THE POSITION:

We are seeking an outstanding History Teacher with a strong specialization in European history and at least five years of experience planning and delivering the A level History curriculum to join our dynamic team at the Accra campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality history instruction to secondary school students, promoting a positive learning environment, and contributing to the overall academic success of our students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons aligned with the A-Level History syllabus
Develop clear learning objectives and differentiated instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs
Conduct regular formative and summative assessments to monitor student understanding
Provide timely, constructive feedback to support academic growth
Prepare students effectively for A-Level examinations through targeted revision and practice
Promote a positive, inclusive and disciplined learning environment
Implement school policies on behavior, attendance and academic integrity
Communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues
Participate actively in departmental meetings, parent forum and school events
Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance curriculum delivery
Identify and assist students requiring additional support
Encourage critical thinking and real-world application of historical concepts
Stay updated with advancements in History education and exam board requirements
Engage in continuous training to refine teaching methodologies
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and Concerns.
Represent the school’s values and academic standards in all interactions

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Requirements:

Must have a minimum of Bachelor of Education, History option. Master’s degree qualification in History preferred.
At least 5 years teaching experience at the A-level and a good track record of students’ success at the A-level.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Proven experience in teaching History at the secondary or post-secondary level.
Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and lesson planning.
Experience with educational technology and online teaching platforms is a plus.
Excellent classroom management skills
Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to continuous professional development
Passionate about teaching and inspiring students
Patient, empathetic and supportive
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Creative and innovative teaching approaches
Collaborative and a team player
