THE POSITION:

The school seeks to recruit an exceptional Physics Teacher with a minimum of five years’ working experience in planning and teaching the A-level and IGCSE Physics Curriculum at the Accra campus. The well-trained, experienced and learning – focused teacher will demonstrate a thorough curriculum knowledge and maintain progress of all class members through the relevant subject at a pace suitable to their age and development and use appropriate skills and techniques of differentiation. 

PRIMARY ROLE:

 

• Design and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons aligned with the A-Level and IGCSE Physics syllabus. 

• Develop clear learning objectives and differentiated instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.

• Conduct regular formative and summative assessments to monitor student understanding.

• Provide timely, constructive feedback to support academic growth. 

• Prepare students effectively for A-Level examinations through targeted revision and practice. 

• Use both in-class activities and online resources and platforms to create a blended learning environment. 

• Set appropriate, realistic but challenging expectations for student learning – building on prior attainment.

• Identify students who may require additional support and know where to get help in order to give positive and targeted support. 

• Manage the learning of individuals, groups and whole classes effectively, using teaching techniques appropriate to suit the stage of the lesson and the needs of learners.

• Conduct research to develop appropriate learning materials and other teaching aids.

• Generate enthusiasm for the subject being taught and inspire all students to work to their potential. 

• Promote high standards of behavior by encouraging a positive, proactive approach to 

• studying and build productive relationships with students

• Set homework which is appropriate to the student’s ability and their wider workload, following School policy

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

 

• Must have a minimum of Bachelor of Education, Physics option. Master’s degree

• qualification in Physics desired.

• A minimum of five years’ teaching experience in delivering the Cambridge curriculum

• up to A-Level, with a proven record of student success at that level.

• Must be well versed in the teaching of the subject. 

• Must be able to inspire, motivate and challenge students. 

• Must be able to plan and teach well-structured lessons which achieve outcomes which are at least good and are often outstanding. 

• Must be able to work closely with a team of teaching colleagues in your department to prepare, resource and teach your subject.

• Must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues showing respect for others and professionalism at all times
