Job Description

A reputable organization in the IT & Electronics industry requires the services of an Accountant for its head office in Spintex.

Job Summary

The accountant is responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring accuracy in reporting, maintaining compliance with statutory regulations, and supporting management with financial analysis and decision-making. The role oversees accounting processes, financial controls, and reporting for the business.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Reporting & Analysis

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions (sales, purchases, expenses, supplier payments)

Ensure proper documentation of invoices, receipts, vouchers, and contracts.

Maintain organized filing systems (manual and digital) for audit readiness

Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations

  1. General Ledger & Record Keeping

Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and journal entries

Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and classified

Review and reconcile accounts regularly

Maintain proper documentation for audit purposes

  1. Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight

Supervise processing of supplier payments and customer receivables

Monitor outstanding debts and ensure timely collections

Review and approve payment schedules

Ensure proper credit control and minimize bad debts

  1. Budgeting & Financial Planning

Develop and monitor annual budgets

Track actual performance against budget and analyze variances

Support forecasting and financial planning processes

Provide recommendations for cost control and revenue improvement

  1. Taxation & Compliance

Ensure compliance with tax laws and statutory requirements

Prepare and file tax returns (VAT, PAYE, Corporate Tax, etc.)

Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g., GRA, SSNIT)

Ensure timely statutory payments to avoid penalties

  1. Cash Flow & Treasury Management

Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure business sustainability

Prepare cash flow forecasts

Oversee bank reconciliations and cash controls

Ensure proper management of company funds

  1. Internal Controls & Fraud Prevention

Implement financial controls to prevent fraud and errors

Monitor financial transactions for irregularities

Ensure proper approval processes for expenditures

Recommend improvements to strengthen internal controls

  1. Internal Controls & Audit

Establish and maintain strong internal controls

Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures

Support internal and external audits

Identify and mitigate financial risks

  1. Payroll Oversight

Review payroll processing and ensure accuracy

Ensure proper computation of salaries and statutory deductions

Maintain confidentiality of payroll information

  1. Support to Management & Operations

Provide financial advice to management for decision-making

Support pricing strategies and profitability analysis

Work closely with inventory and sales teams to ensure accurate reporting

Provide insights into business performance and growth opportunities

Required Skills or Experience

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Professional certification (ACCA, ICA, CIMA) is highly preferred

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting.

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel

High level of accuracy and attention to detail

Analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong integrity and confidentiality

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions

Office-based role

May require extended hours during month-end, year-end, or audits
