About the Role
As a Graduate Assistant in Fine and Applied Arts, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the academic and creative mission of our department. You will work closely with experienced faculty members, assisting in the delivery of high-quality education, curating exhibitions, and fostering a stimulating environment for artistic exploration. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about art education and seeking to develop their teaching and research skills within a supportive university setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior faculty in preparing and delivering lectures, workshops, and studio sessions in fine arts and applied arts disciplines.
- Support the organization and curation of student and faculty art exhibitions, including gallery management and promotional activities.
- Provide technical assistance to students in various art studios, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and digital arts.
- Conduct literature reviews and assist in research projects related to art history, contemporary art practices, and art education.
- Grade assignments, provide constructive feedback, and maintain student records under the supervision of a faculty mentor.
- Participate in departmental meetings, seminars, and community outreach programs to promote the arts.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree (First Class or Second Class Upper) in Fine and Applied Arts, Art Education, or a closely related field from a recognized university.
- Demonstrated proficiency in at least two artistic disciplines (e.g., painting, drawing, sculpture, graphic design, or textile design).
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative academic team.
- Enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and contributing to the cultural life of the university.
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
