📌 ### 📌 GSF recruits 01 Reparation Financing Intern – International Advocacy and Policy_London Title: Reparation Financing Intern – International Advocacy and Policy Type of contract: Paid internship Contract duration: 6 months, with possible extension Work time: Full-time, (40 hours per week) Reporting to: Senior Advocacy and Policy Officer – Reparation Financing Location: London, home-based internship with in-person meetings Start date: As soon as possible Application deadline: 29/03/2026 – Interviews will take place on a rolling basis Background The Global Survivors Fund (GSF) was launched in October 2019 by Dr. Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad, 2018 Nobel Peace Prize laureates. Its mission is to enhance access to reparations for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence around the globe, thus responding to a gap long identified by survivors. GSF acts to provide interim reparative measures in situations where states or other parties are unable or unwilling to meet their responsibilities. GSF advocates for duty bearers as well as the international community to develop reparations programmes. It also guides states and civil society by providing expertise and technical support for designing reparations programmes. GSF’s survivor-centric approach is the cornerstone of its work. Role Summary The intern will be responsible for supporting the International Advocacy and Policy (IAP) team, conducting research, drafting, editing and formatting policy briefs and other documents. The intern will also be involved, as necessary, in supporting the organisation of events and meetings with partners and government representatives. The International Advocacy and Policy team’s work aims to influence global policy to prioritise reparation for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence, promote survivors’ meaningful participation in reparation processes, reparation for children affected by conflict-related sexual violence and the sustainable financing of reparations. This intern will support two organisational priorities: the financing of reparations workstream (80%) and data migration support for the International Advocacy and Policy Team (20%). The intern will be based in London and work closely with the Senior Advocacy and Policy Officer (Financing Reparations), while liaising regularly with colleagues across the wider IAP team, as well as Programmes, Communications, and Operations teams as needed. Intern Responsibilities Financing Reparations Workstream (80%) Under the supervision of the Senior Advocacy and Policy Officer, the intern will support GSF’s research and advocacy agenda on financing reparations, with a particular focus on the development of a dedicated research module on reparations financing, in particular reparation fund structures and governance.  Responsibilities will include: Conduct legal, policy, and comparative research to support a specific research module on financing of reparations for gross human rights violations(especially) reparation fund structures and governance; drafting background papers, research notes, comparative case summaries, and analytical inputs; assisting with literature reviews, source tracking, and the organisation of research materials relevant to reparations financing and fund establishment; Support the operation of the Financing Cluster, including preparation of agendas, drafting meeting summaries, tracking follow-up actions, and ensuring that Financing Cluster discussions and outputs feed coherently into the reparations financing research module, advocacy priorities and are disseminated to the wider organisation; Support operational and advocacy and policy work linked to the Group of Friends on Victim-Centred Accountability and Justice – including preparation of briefing notes, background research, talking points, meeting agendas, and summaries of discussions; Assist with the monitoring and analysis of relevant legal, policy, and political developments (e.g. at UN, EU, UK, and multilateral levels) relevant to reparations financing and victim-centred accountability; Support the preparation and follow-up of meetings, consultations, and events related to reparations financing. GSF Online / Knowledge Management – International Advocacy and Policy Team (20%) In coordination with the supervisor and relevant colleagues, the intern will support the International Advocacy and Policy team’s use of project and knowledge management platform “GSF Online”: Support the migration, organisation, and structuring of International Advocacy and Policy materials within GSF Online; Upload advocacy contacts, documents and other data onto GSF Online. Other responsibilities may include: Upload and organise photos of advocacy activities in Canto, GSF’s visual content platform;. Attend advocacy team meetings, GSF staff meetings, partner meetings, as required; Assist the International Advocacy and Policy team with other tasks as might be required. Position Requirements Education and Experience The position is open to students currently enrolled in a master’s or a post graduate programme in law, international relations, public policy, economics, development studies, or a related field. Please note a tripartite agreement is mandatory for this internship. Other Requirements Demonstrated interest in human rights, transitional justice, reparations, accountability, or international public finance; Strong research, analytical, and drafting skills; Excellent written and spoken English (additional languages an asset); Strong organisational skills and attention to detail; Ability to manage multiple tasks and work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment; Interest or basic familiarity with knowledge management or digital collaboration tools is an asset. Learning Opportunities The internship offers hands‑on exposure to: Cutting‑edge policy debates on financing reparations and survivor‑centred justice and accountability; International advocacy processes at UN, regional, and national levels; Practical aspects of organisational knowledge management within a human rights NGO; Close mentorship and feedback from senior advocacy and policy staff. Reporting and Working Arrangements The intern will report to the Senior Advocacy and Policy Officer (Financing Reparations) and work closely with other members of the IAP, Programmes and Operations teams. This is an online internship, and the role is London‑based, with opportunities for in-person meetings with GSF staff based in the same location.
