CONTEXT AND BACKGROUND : WFP Chad operates in a complex environment characterized by recurrent shocks, displacement, and high levels of food insecurity. Strengthening the quality of evidence is central to WFP's work to ensure equitable assistance and efficient resource allocation. This role will support the Research, Assessment & Monitoring (RAM) unit in conducting impact assessments, refining targeting strategies, and supporting data-driven programming. Title of Post: VAM Officer (Economic Analyst) Grade: P2 step 1 in the first year Supervisor: Head of RAM Unit: Research, Assessment & Monitoring (RAM) Division/Country Office: Chad Country Office Duty Station: N'djamena, Chad Duration of assignment: Initially one year, with the possibility to extend up to a maximum of 3 years DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Under the direct supervision of the Head of the unit, the JPO will have the following responsibilities: 1. Support evidence generation for programme design and impact: : o Support the design and analysis of food security and outcome monitoring surveys, baselines/endlines, and Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM). o Apply statistical methods for analysis: Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs), quasi-experimental studies, or alternative impact evaluation designs where relevant. 2. Support vulnerability targeting strategies, economic analysis and field validation: : o Assist in the development of targeting tools and criteria based on household vulnerability and socio-economic profiles. o Contribute to the economic analysis of markets, household expenditures, socio-economic and food security data to refine targeting strategies for different population groups (e.g. IDPs, refugees, host communities) 3. Support risk analysis for anticipatory action and early warning systems: : o Assist in defining early action thresholds, data collection protocols, and monitoring of triggers for anticipatory assistance. o Analyze and model risk exposure and potential outcomes under different shock scenarios. 4. Strengthen data visualization, knowledge management and reporting: : o Document and disseminate key lessons learned, success stories, and impact findings across internal and external audiences. o Support preparation of evidence-based donor reports, dashboards, and presentations. o Produce dashboards, and visual products to communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders. 5. Capacity building and coordination: : o Deliver coaching or technical sessions to RAM and cooperating partner staff on M&E, targeting tools, and use of statistical software. o Contribute to internal coordination with other units (Programme, CBT, VAM, and Logistics) to ensure integrated monitoring. 6. Other tasks as needed in support of the country office's evidence and programme quality agenda. EXPECTED OUTCOMES : Operational monitoring systems strengthened with standardized tools, templates, and dashboards Evidence-based recommendations developed and integrated into WFP interventions through impact evaluations, baseline/endline surveys, and RCTs or quasi-experimental studies
