L'ONG INTERSOS is looking for Protection Monitors   Reports to: Protection Monitor Team Leader Duty station: Donga Mantum/ Lebialem/ Manyu/Menchum Type of contract: Fixed Term Availability: 15 March 2026 Main Objective and Tasks The officer is responsible for collecting protection data and monitoring the overall protection context in the assigned area. This role involves contributing to the design of methodologies and analyses while directly engaging with affected communities. The officer identifies individuals at risk through household assessments or individual interviews, providing them with guidance on available services or referring those with specific protection concerns as necessary. Tasks: • Conduct protection monitoring activities at both household and community levels using various quantitative and qualitative tools. • Identify key informants within the community to participate in regular protection monitoring activities through semi-structured or unstructured interviews (KIIs). • Facilitate Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) among community members on selected topics to gain a better understanding of the causes and consequences of identified risks. • Monitor and report on protection concerns and trends, including new population displacements and movements in the operational areas. • Report any serious protection incidents or immediate concerns identified within target communities to the Protection Monitor Team Leader. • Identify individual cases with protection concerns during data collection for referral to internal services or specialized agencies. • Verify collected information on protection risks and the availability and access to services through direct observation of the area. • Assist the Protection Monitor Team Leader in reporting qualitative and quantitative data and information. • Map the main service providers in the intervention area and identify and report gaps in service availability and quality. • Carry out all tasks while adhering to key protection principles, including but not limited to: do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability, and need-to-know principles. • Support sensitization, information dissemination, and awareness-raising activities. Educational and Professional Experience Required • A university degree in a related field, such as social sciences or equivalent, is an asset. • Training in humanitarian protection themes, such as community-based protection, survival-centered case management, PSEA, GBV, and child protection, will be an asset. Technical and Behavioral Competencies Required Work Experience: • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a humanitarian context, in an association, NGO, or INGO, with at least 1 year of fieldwork experience in the NW or SW regions during a crisis. • One year of relevant experience in the protection sector. • Previous experience working with IDPs, refugees, and returnees. • Strong knowledge of international protection in the humanitarian context. • Strong knowledge in other protection areas (e.g., case management, psychosocial support activities). • Experience working and/or collaborating on a UNHCR project would be an asset. • Leadership, planning, and organizational skills. • Respectful and non-discriminatory attitude. • Teamwork and communication skills. • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team. IT: Advanced Knowledge of • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). • Mainstream web browsers (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox). • Web-based chat and conferencing tools/platforms (Skype, Teams, Zoom, WebEx). • Web 2.0 tools (cloud storage, webmail, etc.). Languages • Fluency in both written and oral formal English. • Strong writing and reporting skills. • Fluency in Pidgin English. How to Apply?
