This role focuses on optimizing service quality and cost-effectiveness in procurement, fleet, warehousing, and training to ensure effective service delivery to the IFRC network and partners. The incumbent will oversee supply chain operations, ensure compliance with standards, and support emergency and program operations. The position requires strong leadership, relationship-building, and strategic planning skills to enhance supply chain capabilities and efficiencies. Candidate Requirements: University degree in Business, Economics, or Engineering Post-graduate qualification in logistics strategy and management 10+ years in managing complex international logistics 5+ years in field operations Experience in managing resources in large-scale operations Experience in global supply chain services integration Experience in setting up complex supply chain infrastructures Experience in annual planning and strategy implementation Experience in managing operational budgets Knowledge of Red Cross/Red Crescent operations In-depth knowledge of complex supply chain management Strong budget and financial management skills Excellent negotiation and communication skills Fluent in English, knowledge of another IFRC language preferred Organizational Context The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian network, with 191 member National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The Regional Head, Global Humanitarian Services and Supply Chain Management reports directly to the Head of Supply Chain, Global Humanitarian Services & Supply Chain Management (GHS&SCM). The position is based in Nairobi, with a requirement to work up to 40 calendar days outside of the regular duty station (longer by mutual agreement) including short notice rapid deployment to sudden onset disasters. For operational reasons, this position may be required to rotate as a part of the Global Mobility Programme. Job Purpose The Regional Head, Global Humanitarian Services and Supply Chain Management is responsible for developing, leading, and implementing the Supply Chain function both within the hub and across the region. The incumbent will optimise service quality and cost‑effectiveness strategies to ensure the successful operational implementation and service delivery to the IFRC network, partners, and service users, ensuring value‑for‑money (VfM) as measured for the end‑to‑end supply chain and benchmarked against the humanitarian supply chain sector. The incumbent will focus on the delivery of right‑quality and cost‑effective services across procurement, fleet, warehousing, capacity building, preparedness, and training to service users, including members and other humanitarian organisations. This role will ensure compliance with overall Supply Chain standards and actively participate in the implementation of the IFRC Global Supply Chain Management Strategy. The post holder is integrated into the management team of the Global Humanitarian Services and Supply Chain Management (GHS&SCM) department, leads the regional supply chain and humanitarian services in the Africa region , and forms part of the global supply chain and humanitarian services team. Supply Chain Management is a function dedicated to: Provision of goods and services to the member National Societies of the Region to deliver to the most vulnerable. Provision of capacity development support to the member National Societies, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the supply chain and strengthening its control.
